Privacy Policy

Taalimi is an adult-managed learning app for children and adults. This page explains what information the app uses, how it is used, and the privacy choices available to families.
Who This Policy Covers
This policy applies to Taalimi mobile and web experiences. Adult accounts control learner profiles, lesson progress, and subscription access. Children do not create independent accounts.
Taalimi is not submitted as an App Store Kids Category app, but it is designed for families and may store limited information about children when an adult creates a child learner profile.
Information We Use
Taalimi may use the following categories of information:
1. Parent account information such as email address and display name.
2. Learner profile information such as first name or nickname, avatar, audience type, level, and placement choices entered by the adult account holder.
3. Learning data such as lesson completion, review items, streaks, badges, weekly goals, and heart status.
4. Subscription and purchase state used to unlock Premium features through RevenueCat and the Apple App Store or Google Play.
5. Notification choices and delivery data when an adult enables notifications. A daily local reminder stays on the device. Optional adaptive updates use an Expo push token, device platform and time zone, chosen quiet hours and message categories, consent time, aggregate lesson counts and activity timestamps, and a limited delivery history used to enforce frequency caps. These records do not include learner names, answers, or lesson content.
6. Diagnostic information such as crash reports and error details when Sentry error reporting is configured for a release build. Taalimi does not enable advertising tracking or send default personally identifiable information to Sentry.
7. Optional product-usage events when an adult enables analytics. These events can describe screens viewed, lesson starts and completions, campaign labels, seven-day-plan progress, and subscription-flow outcomes. They do not include names, email addresses, learner profile IDs, question text, free-form answers, advertising identifiers, precise location, touch recordings, or session replay.
8. A random referral code when an adult chooses to share Taalimi. The public code does not contain a parent or learner identifier. When Firebase is reachable, it is stored with the adult account so the same code can be reused across devices; an offline device can use a random local fallback.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
1. create and secure parent accounts
2. personalize learning progress for each learner
3. sync progress and review data across devices
4. manage subscriptions and restore purchases
5. deliver the notification categories an adult chooses, respect quiet hours, prevent duplicate or excessive messages, and remove registered devices after opt-out or sign-out
6. understand which onboarding and learning steps help households begin and continue, when optional analytics has been enabled
Services Used
Taalimi currently relies on third-party services including Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore for account and learning data, RevenueCat for subscription status, Apple or Google billing systems for purchases, Sentry for crash and error diagnostics when configured, Expo's push service for adult-enabled adaptive notifications, and PostHog's US service for optional product analytics when configured and enabled by the adult account holder. These services process information only to provide, secure, bill, support, or improve the Taalimi app experience.
Taalimi does not show ads, does not sell family or learner data, and does not use third-party advertising SDKs or App Tracking Transparency tracking.
Optional Notification Choices
Daily reminders and adaptive updates are separate. A daily reminder repeats at the time selected on that device. Adaptive updates can cover the first learning week, streak recovery, return reminders, and a weekly aggregate summary. Premium information is a separate category that starts off disabled.
The selected daily reminder time remains on the device. If adaptive updates are enabled, the server receives only whether a daily reminder is active so it can pause extra messages.
Adaptive updates require an explicit adult choice and current system notification permission. They are limited to three messages in seven days, never less than 24 hours apart, and do not send during chosen quiet hours. When a daily reminder is active, adaptive messages pause rather than stack with it.
Turning adaptive updates off removes registered devices from the delivery service. Signing out unregisters that device when a network connection is available, and account deletion removes notification preferences, registered devices, delivery records, and short-lived duplicate-prevention records.
Optional Analytics Choices
Optional analytics starts off disabled. Before an adult makes a choice, approved events can wait only on that device. Choosing No clears that pending queue; choosing Yes sends future approved events and the pending approved events to PostHog. Taalimi remains usable if analytics stays disabled.
An adult can change this choice at any time under Settings, Privacy & Analytics. Turning analytics off stops future analytics events and clears unsent events on that device. Account and learning records needed to provide the app are separate from optional analytics.
The public Taalimi website asks separately before sending optional page-view or store-click events. Declining clears unsent website events on that browser. Approved website events can include the landing-page audience, campaign labels, a public partner code, and the selected app store, but not form input, names, email addresses, or session recordings.
Learner Information And Adult Consent
Taalimi is designed for adult-managed use. Learner profiles are created by an adult account holder and are intended to hold only limited learning information needed for the app experience.
During account creation, the adult account holder is asked to confirm they are 18 or older and consent to Taalimi collecting learner profile details, level or placement choices, and learning progress for the app experience.
Adult account holders can review, update, or delete learner profiles in the app, or contact support to ask questions about learner data. These rights support family privacy expectations, including parental review and deletion rights associated with child-privacy laws such as COPPA where applicable.
Account Deletion, Retention, And Data Controls
Adult account holders can request account deletion from within the app. Once requested, Taalimi starts deleting the account, learner profiles, related learning data, notification preferences, registered push devices, and delivery records. Learner profiles can also be removed from the account settings area.
Account and learner data is retained while the account or learner profile remains active. After an account deletion or learner-profile deletion request, Taalimi aims to delete related app data promptly and within 30 days unless a longer period is required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, billing records, or backup systems.

International Processing
Taalimi uses cloud services that may process data in countries outside your home country, including the United States or other locations where Firebase, RevenueCat, Sentry, Expo, Apple, or Google operate. Optional PostHog product analytics is configured to use PostHog's United States host. We use these providers to run the app, secure accounts, process subscriptions, and diagnose reliability issues.
Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, including the EU, UK, California, and other regions, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, object to, or withdraw consent for certain personal data. Parents can exercise many controls in the app and can contact support for privacy requests.
Taalimi uses adult consent and the need to provide the requested app service as primary reasons for processing account and learner learning data. Security, diagnostics, legal compliance, and billing records may also rely on legitimate interests or legal obligations where permitted.
Security
Taalimi uses authenticated access and Firestore security rules to restrict account and learner data access. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but Taalimi limits data collection to what is needed for the app experience and does not use family or learner data for advertising tracking.
